In Lesachtal Valley, the villages of Liesing, Maria Luggau, Birnbaum and St. Lorenzen are dotted along the Gail – the name of the river in the valley. They all belong to the Austrian Mountaineering Villages initiative. Together they embody an authentic alpine lifetime and stand for sustainable development in the region. There is no end of leisure activities for your outdoor or family holiday on the farm, extending from hiking to mountain biking, climbing, bathing, skiing, ski tours and simple winter enjoyment.

The Genusshof Mesner Aktiv is located in Liesing, 1,043 metres above sea level, surrounded by farm gardens and mountain landscapes.

The Mussen, Carinthia’s “most beautiful flower mountain” and one of the last large alpine meadows in the area, is perched high above Lesachtal Valley, boasting a biodiversity of no less than 500 plant species. It has been protected since 1978. Another popular highlight in Lesachtal Valley is the Carnic Peace Trail. One section of this hiking route extends between Sexten and Lesachtal Valley, not far from the Genusshof.
